I know I started on 2nd November 2007 as that's when @petteri gave his Tech Talk where he demonstrated Jaiku. I pestered him for an invite afterwards and I've been here since. See this: http://adewale.jaiku.com/presence/16490306 or this other thread where people have been digging through the history to find their first posts on Jaiku: http://luisac.jaiku.com/presence/8683
Jan 2008, I think; shortly after getting my first S60 powered phone, and @atmasphere suggested Jaiku as a place to connect w/ people that knew "a little" about them. :)
@constantine, yes indeed. Both services look exactly the same still, jaiku has dropped few features, twitter has not dropped anything but not added either and it's far more successful. And either of these have no business model. At least one microblogging service already died and the lastest one just month or two old.
@jounikjuntunen Actually Twitter has dropped various features over the years: SMS outside the US (unless you're a Vodafone user in the UK); track; the you and your friends view.
I'd love to believe that there were vast amounts of money to be made in microblogging but I strongly doubt it. Best case scenario is that microblogging platforms make a little money by charging their users a subscription fee and having some adverts. However given that people in the middle of a conversation tend to have very little commercial intent I don't think any of the venture capitalists are going to be pleased with the relatively tiny amounts of revenue.
I think we'll end up with a world featuring lots of small microblogging platforms that barely pay their costs but which through federation and provider-independent services (like http://spy.appspot.com ) ensure that users can easily switch providers without losing their history or their social graph.
twitter = 2 years 3 months, Jaiku uhmm, I think maybe six months, and bloggy.se since it opened. I forget when I joined plurk but I tend to ignore that place anyway.
uau... so many replies! i dont remember having so many replies on one of my jaikus in a long time
now on the subject!
I've joined around august 2007, after a recommendation from Henrik! he first pointed me to twitter, and a week latter to jaiku! it was love at first sight! never left it any more
Jaiku: May 28th 2007, #Facebook: Can't remember when it turned into a microblogging site, but some time this year when they enabled comments, #Twitter: don't get me started, it has nothing to do with microblogging

my first jaiku was on June 14, 2007 and it read: "Fucking bullshit! Why do all these microblogging websites have a character limit per post?"
my second Jaiku a day later was "This kicks Twitter in the balls and then makes love to its mother."
how far things have come.

Of course it was 2007!!! Thanks @cybette. I started to follow Jaiku in late June and write in early July as I found @saikku from here.

FYI i find that this search "joined jaiku site:[username].jaiu.com" tends to find your first Jaiku

@ymb hey how would have guessed that my bad memory would actually be right once! eheh
7 months, 1 week ago by BUGabundo
@ymb Great idea. But it needs a little tweaking.
This is the search that worked for me:
"joined jaiku" site:adewale.jaiku.com

How can I figure out when I started using Twitter? I was on it for a while before I started using Jaiku in earnest.
7 months, 1 week ago by jezlyn
@jezlyn: try using the mobile version of the site, where each page has a URL eg. http://m.twitter.com/account/home.mobile?page=2
7 months, 1 week ago by kimbach
Thanks, @kimbach. Apparently I started using Twitter Mar. 14, 2007:

twitter: 19th March 2007, identi.ca: 2nd July 2008, jaiku: don't know. how do i find that?
5 months ago by bubu1uk
@bubu1uk i guess you will have to do it the hard way (try remembering, and skipping backwards in your history) :(
The google search does not seem to have your account for some reason.
5 months ago by ymb
or see if you have the email from when you joined
5 months ago by BUGabundo
unfortunately, i don't have an email. just checked. well, never mind. might try to go thru history.

livejournal summer 2003, jaiku spring 2007 (back then as yoggel) and twitter summer 2007.

@ymb
Try a google.com search like:
"joined jaiku" site:ymb.jaiku.com
5 months ago by adewale
I tried that myself, no luck
5 months ago by edythemighty
I follow @leolaporte when he announces new stuff haha
5 months ago by meonjaiku
the search will not work with private accounts......
5 months ago by denise
@denise: will it work if you unprivate and then private ur account?
5 months ago by bubu1uk
the private setting hinders google et al to index the posts.... that was one of the reasons why my old account was set friends-only....

When looking for my "joined date", I found this out: http://luisac.jaiku.com/presence/8683#c-0a630dcd002347aa9f77df6b31ce543a - it can help you browse your presense, if you know the approximate date of when you joined
5 months ago by kimbach
couple months after joining twitter. :) maybe 2 or 3? well, i think. can't remember exactly. ;)
twitter joined 19th march 2007
